Symantec Endpoint Antivirus Microsoft patch/fix

Microsoft recently released a critical SSL security update in August 2015 that has stopped Symantec Endpoint Antivirus from connecting to the cloud management console. Your antivirus is still working but it’s state is not being reported and you are unable to open Endpoint. It is import to install the patch below and fix this issue.

If you have a GREY question mark over the Endpoint icon bottom right tray, then you need the patch below that Microsoft just released in September 2015.

This Fix/patch below was released as a non-critical update so it won’t be automatically installed. You have to manually install it. There are 2 options below.

Option 1:

Login as Admin or Administrator and then click on the link below to download the patch, then install it. Note: You cannot install it as a standard user!

  2. Open Windows Updates.
  3. Click on check for updates, then select optional updates.

Note: Endpoint reporting to the cloud console is important as it will email you if there is security risk or the Antivirus has stopped working.
